HPL versus CPL:

Besides HPL (High Pressure Laminate), there are other types of laminate. Another well-known type of laminate is CPL (Continuous Pressure Laminate). CPL has the same construction as laminate, but the top layer is thinner and pressed together by a roller.

At HPL, the fibers are compressed under high pressure between 2 plates, which causes the fibers to sit closer together. Because the fibers have less room to move between the 2 plates, the material is stronger than the CPL method.
