The structure of oak wood transgress
Properties of plywood:
- Natural look
– Flatter than solid wood
– Easier to finish than solid wood
– Does not work well with moisture and fluctuating temperatures
– Does not warp
Good to know:
The base layer of the oak stair nosings consists of 12 mm plywood. These are boards made up of an odd number of wood veneer layers. These veneer layers are glued crosswise to each other and pressed into a board. On top of that, you get the top layer, which is real oak wood, approximately 4 mm.
Had both stairs renovated; first received a great and pleasant welcome in the showroom. The execution by Janos was perfect, nothing to fault, everything went wonderfully according to agreement and was carried out to perfection; someone who doesn't just do it with his hands, but also with his soul.

Maintenance of oak wood
It can easily be cleaned with a dry cloth or a Swiffer. You can also vacuum it with a soft attachment. What you should watch out for is not to use harsh agents. These can cause irreparable damage to an oak staircase.
If liquid of any kind accidentally remains on the step for more than 2 hours, that damage can no longer be removed, because oak wood absorbs moisture. If you have pets, they can cause scratches a bit faster, because oak wood is somewhat softer.
